3 States say - Ghey is the new Black

As our first Bi-Racial candidate wins a solid majority and turns some red states blue (good looking Colorado and Florida), the old face of bias rears it’s ugly head. In three states, Arizona, Florida and in sunny California, constitutional amendments to define marriage as boy/girl and not boy/boy or girl/girl have passed.

This happened in California? How did that happen exactly. Well, California is a very big state and while much of the state is ethnically and sexually diverse, but some parts of the state could be easily referred to as Calibama.

Another reason it passed here is simple, churches of every denomination pushed for this and some gave out those goofy yellow, Yes on 8 signs that have been littering the state. I saw Latinos, Whites and Blacks of all ages actively campaigning for this amendment that seeks to strip rights from our state constitution. For some reason I feel that the church should have more pressing social issues to contend with, but that’s just me.

Speaking of the church and it’s war to uphold Leviticus, chapter 18:22; why exactly is 22 so important?

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination

What about Leviticus 11:12?

Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

Or all the animal sacrifice stuff from chapter 3. Who determines which is more important?

Back in realitytown, I received several robocalls from presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, urging to vote no on Proposition 8. Sen. Dianne Feinstein also opposed the bill and to a degree so did Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. I did also get one call for 8 that played old audio of Obama that tried to imply that he was for this abomination. Google, Apple and Yahoo also fought to oppose this amendment along with MoveOn.org.

The sponsors of this bill told the public that it was about protecting kids, free speech, morality, smaller government and anything else they could think of. Proposition 8 is really about the state legislating religious morality, and nothing else.

So in 2008, who is in the business of removing rights? the bill is sponsored by a group called, ProtectMarriage.com and supported by the Knights of Columbus, the wackos at Focus on the Family and the American Family Assn…

What would happen if there was a Pink Out? How would the country react if gays and supporters in Arizona, Florida and California all decided to call in sick. Hey, I got the “Vader Flu” for the star Wars prequels and for the most part they sucked. Like the immigration protests of a few years back, this could let those states put faces to this issue. With the exception of Ellen and a commercial narrated by Samuel Jackson, the pro 8 people did not have a very public face. A walk out could have put these states on notice that you can’t take rights from working taxpayers. Or it could have shored up the base like a Palin rally.

It’s funny that yesterday a proposition to provide more rights to farm animals passed, but rights for gays to continue to wed in the great state of California has failed.
